Just posting a pic of my Main player character i picked up from dexcon, finally got my mainhand and offhand mounts setup, shield and sword are my personal models :)
I picked up that model but when examining it in Unity it appeared the weapon and shield were part of the overall mesh -- how'd you fix that?
its the dark armor vers the lighter shield/sword + no lighter in the darker areas.

Looks nice, however I think the texture detail of the Sword and Shield could use minimizing to reflect the Character Model's texture detail because you're trying to use fairly different art styles.
Just imo.
Im not too concerned with the MH and OH models matching the armor for the fact that when you get loot they dont always match your character anyway. I will be modifying the model to look more basic(clothes) to start out with, and ill be making plate,cloth,leather,chain armor based off this model so that when he picks up the said armor from a chest or wherever it be, the specific armor models can be instantiated onto his body.








I imported the .dae file into blender then just deleted the sword part of the model, then exported it as an fbx and put it back into unity, There is a mount point already set up for the Main hand so all i had to do was put my weapons in relation to that and it works great :). Then i just used the left hand bone in the armature as my mount point for the shield and adjusted the shield accordingly.
