Marvel Superhero Squad Online Beta

I took some time this morning to take a look at a new Unity webplayer game, Marvel Superhero Squad Online. Now this is one of my sons favorite cartoons. He always runs to the toy department to look for action figues. So I am sure that I will be playing more in the future.

This video is my first time logging in. I have done a little reading on the game, but wanted to approach the game as someone that knew nothing about it. With that in mind, the game starts off with a small tutorial that teaches you the basic controls of the game, and a few mechanics. The user interface is intuitive enough that most people are going to be able to pick up the game as they play though the content.

The visual candy is great. I only play The Thing in this video, but I will be back to try out some of the other characters. The audio is pleasing and seems suitable for the game. One thing that I would like to see is some of the signature catch phrases that heros use. Everything about the game seems well polished, and no bugs have been found so far.

I will be playing the free to play option for quite some time. They do have a membership options that allows you to gain access to more content, but for now, there seems to be plenty to do as a non-paying player.

Overall feeling, after a run though one mission and exploring one of the zones... I like it. I will be playing again. While I am sure that I am not the target demographic for this game, It should prove fun to try out in multiplayer mode.

You can find out more about the game, as well as give it a try yourself at heroup.

*EDIT*
I have played the game with my son now... Looks like we will becoming a member for a while as he absolutely loves the game!

Time to start saving up for the Hulk!
