Using Blender3d, ward7299 from YouTube will guide you though the process to creating a 3d model of a cartoonish style character. At times, things may move quickly. Just rewind the video a bit as it is all gold.
So sit back, grab a drink, and take some notes. It is going to be a productive ride.
