Next step: ensuring we can get proper materials on our SketchUp model and ensure the scene gets reloaded with the new changes.
It is best to use textures in SketchUp, as this ensures a good look of the model inside the game environment. Plain colors are also possible, but don't always look good in a game. By exporting the model to FBX over the existing model, Unity3D will automatically reload the geometry and materials from the FBX file and keep the rest of the scene in place. So you can continue to work in SketchUp, knowing all will be fine in the game model.
